There are about 5,000 deaf people in Kern County, many of whom have hearing family members, making the deaf and deaf-related ministry target group as large as 15,000-20,000 people.
Deafness is a culture of its own because of language and economic barriers and issues. This is an unreached people group that crosses ethnic, religious, and socio-economic boundaries.
The opportunities at LBC are ripe for reaching this mission field within our community. Our deaf pastor Jeff Jackson and his wife Maura are passionate about pursuing this ministry under LBC leadership.
LBC has a ministry geared to those that require sign language – American Sign Language (ASL). You are welcome to join us!

Deaf Church Pastor
“My passion is to share about God and how he showed his love through Jesus Christ, our Savior (Romans 5:8). Only 1.5% of the Deaf population in the country know Jesus as their personal savior. It’s a joy when I see even a few of them come to know Jesus and grow with him through his Word.”
Jeff has been married to Maura since 1993. They have two wonderful college-age boys, B.J. and Joshua. Jeff enjoys playing softball, basketball, and flag football.
