The Christmas season is upon us! It’s like a switch that gets flipped right after we’ve cleared the Thanksgiving table. The gift-giving season. This time of year, we can all get bombarded with gift-giving, but what if we gave the gift of our time or resources to advance the gospel? Isn’t that the greatest gift we could give? The gift of hope!

This year, LBC is joining the national campaign called #GivingTuesday on November 28. It’s a day recognized globally for giving back. We want this campaign to be dedicated to reaching people with the hope of Jesus Christ. It challenges us to look at the meaning behind the season of giving, and forces us to find some moments to serve others in the busiest time of year. In that spirit, here are three easy ways you can dedicate yourself to service today, and beyond. In other words, here’s how to easily give on Giving Tuesday in less than ten minutes!

  1. Make a difference by giving – Four Minutes

It doesn’t matter if you have $5, $50, or $500, the act of giving is biblical and extremely rewarding.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

All the ministries at Laurelglen Bible Church are supported entirely by the generous giving of our friends, attenders, and members. Your gift will help us teach the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. You can give a tax-deductible gift to LBC quickly and easily online. Just click HERE.

  1. Support LBC in lieu of gifts – Six Minutes

In this day and age, we have more than enough “things,” don’t we? If you have friends and family that would normally give you a wrapped gift, you can gently request they donate to your church instead. Share it on social media to spread the word. Friends and family near and far can donate online. It’s more convenient for them than shipping a gift! Or consider giving a gift in someone’s name.

  1. Visit our website to find ways to volunteer – Five Minutes

Every year we organize groups to go visit folks who are living in care facilities around town. Consider making this part of your worship this Christmas. Meet in the church parking lot at 9:00am Christmas morning. We’ll be done by 11:00am. Children and pets are welcome. Visit our website for more details.

We have plenty of other areas to get plugged in, too. Visit our website by clicking here for a comprehensive list of opportunities, or ask a pastor or ministry leader if they have opportunities to serve in their ministry area. If you have kids, try to involve them in your service!

There you go! Let’s not think of service and giving at this time of year only, but challenge yourself to give above and beyond – all with the goal of sharing the good news of JESUS!
